Part-Time Job scams

There are part-time job scams out there that are offered over the Internet. They seem to target people who are retired and looking for some part-time work. One of these companies is Paid Shopping Providers. They offer you the opportunity to become a Investigative Shopper. They send you a contract to fax back to them signed, and a check to deposit in your account. I'm not mentioning any names, but I know someone who fell for this. Fortunately the bank caught it and stopped this person from making a big mistake. So Baby Boomers beware of this scam. Don't fall for Internet scams. If you need extra money, be sure to check out your potential employer thoroughly.

We had actually considered taking one of those part-time jobs. Thanks for the heads-up! We'll be extra careful, now, and do our research, first.

My wife recently got 2 emails - one from 'Fed Ex', and one from 'UPS'. Both stated that 'her order has been shipped', when to expect them, and listed tracking numbers. She WAS waiting on a UPS shipment, but not Fed Ex. She's not sure if the UPS email is ligit, or not.

From my experience, shippers do NOT email customers who are WAITING on deliveries. They email confirmations to the SENDERS. If you get emails like those mentioned - be cautious before opening them. Since then, my MSN homepage does not come up (not sure that those emails caused it).
